Abbas Kiarostami to be honored at 35th Fajr Int'l Film Festival

Internationally acclaimed Iranian filmmaker Abbas Kiarostami is to be honored at the 35th edition of Fajr International Film Festival as well as the Image of the Year and Tassvir Film Festival.

The confirmation of the honoring ceremony was announced by secretary of the Image of the Year and Tassvir Film Festival, Saifollah Samadian, at a presser on Wednesday.

Samadian also said a 3-day seminar will be held at the 35th Fajr International Film Festival hosting key figures who have worked and shared memories with late Iranian Kiarostami.

“The main event at the 14th Image of the Year and Tassvir Film Festival will be dedicated to works by or about Abbas Kiarostami,” Samadian added.

As Martin Scorsese said about Abbas Kiarostami, he was "one of those rare artists with a special knowledge of the world.”

Kiarostami was also an accomplished photographer and painter.

The 14th Image of the Year Festival and the 35th Fajr International Film Festival will be held respectively February 19 to March 10, 2016 and April 21 to April 28, 2016.
